Smart Bus-Stop System

E-Kent's smart bus stops display the estimated time of arrival of expected buses. For additional information, the smart stops also display how far away the buses are. This system is enabled by GPS (Global Positioning System) data received from sensors on-board the buses, and transmitted through GPRS to the smart bus stops.

Powered by solar energy, E-Kent's smart bus stops use up to 75% less energy compared to conventional bus stops.

  • They are illuminated by LED.
  • They require minimum maintenance and have a long service life.
  • They can be installed without excavation or other civil works.
  • They can be used as a lighting and 220 Volt AC power supply in case of emergency or natural disaster.

On-board information system for vehicles

A monitor can be installed on board a bus to display information and commercials to passengers. This monitor communicates with associated smart bus stops, so that they display the estimated time of arrival at the next bus stop and density of traffic along the route. It also emits an audio signal to announce the next stop. Thus passengers reading a newspaper or book or otherwise distracted are reminded of the next stop. This system can also collect data on bus occupancy rates and bus punctuality at each stop. The system also provides two-way communication between the driver and the central office.
